Nantale Kivubiro

Nantale graduates from WAAPA in 2008, and is a member of AIVDT. Nantale is a choreographer, performer and improvisor working in the areas of Contemporary and African dance. Nantale has a strong technique, and is a dynamic and precise performer.
Nantale Kivubiro, a dancer in Perth, Western Australia is completing a Bachelor of Arts (Dance) at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Originally trained in classical ballet at John Curtin College of the Arts, Nantale has a strong technique, and is a dynamic and precise performer. She also has many years of experience in African dance, performing with African dance groups Ngoma and Mozambiqua with Alice Langa. Working for these groups, Nantale has run workshops and performances at Kulcha, festivals including Cockburn Festival, and taught in schools such as Seaton High School.Since commencing her training at WAAPA, Nantale has developed a strong interest in contemporary dance. Although she is extremely diverse and capable in many dance genres, her main focus is on contemporary dance, improvisation and African dance. Nantale recently worked with Sue Healey in the creative development stage of the new work The Curiosities. She will also be performing in this work in Sydney in October. Nantale is also working with Jo Pollitt on the development of a new solo which emerged from the AIVDT mentorship in January. A choreographer herself, Nantale’s latest work One Emu Street, exploring experiences and memories of childhood, will be performed at PICA in August 2008.
