"LINK Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company that exists to give dancers the opportunity to make the transition from student to professional.

"LINK Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company that exists to give dancers the opportunity to make the transition from student to professional.

Attached to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University Mount Lawley the company is made up of dancers who have completed a three-year university dance course and have gained entry into LINK Dance Company by audition. The course, at the end of which dancers will have completed a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), is structured so that the company works exactly like a professional company.

New works are created for the company by highly regarded local, national and international choreographers and the company performs for the public locally as well as touring interstate and internationally.

The purpose of the company is to bridge the gap between University studies and professional employment. This company is unique to WAAPA and is the only one of its kind in Australia. In an economic and artistic climate in which professional engagements are becoming increasingly scarce, LINK Dance Company is preparing extremely talented students to be highly competitive when seeking employment.

LINK Dance Company commissions work from a broad range of established professional choreographers so that the dancers become both proficient and versatile. They gain the skills to make valuable contributions to choreographic processes and they become seasoned and compelling performers."
